Chapter 1
Tiger the cat was snoozing in front of
Ava’s house, deep asleep. Suddenly, a loud ‘WHOOSH!’ sounded, startling him
awake. In the distance, the orange cat could make out a rocket speeding into the
sky.
‘Oh no,’ he thought. ‘Please don’t say that Mocha actually flew out in that rocket!’
Chapter 2
Unfortunately, Tiger’s fear came true.
Far away in the rocket, Mocha was zooming into space. “Yippee!” she meowed,
excitedly. “This is such fun! Tiger was wrong – it’s not dangerous at all.”
Earlier that morning, she had been longing
to fly into space in a rocket she had built. It wasn’t exactly a rocket, just a
huge trash can and soda cans for boosters, but who cared? She had eagerly yapped
her plans to Tiger, but doubt crossed his face as he listened. The two had
become significantly closer ever since Mocha The Movie.
“It’s too dangerous!” Tiger had
protested. “And besides, you don’t know how to fly a rocket! You don’t
even know if it’ll fly! Whoever heard of a rocket made out of a rubbish bin and
soda cans?”
“If I never try, I never know,” Mocha
had argued back. “I would love to see all the wonders in space!”
“Mocha, listen to me! It’s very
dangerous to go out there. Please don’t go!” Tiger pleaded, worry ceasing his
heart at the thought of his young friend exploring space.
“No! I’m going!” said Mocha, obstinately.
Tiger shook his furry head and walked off in a huff. Mocha stared after him,
frowning. “I don’t want to upset Tiger, but I really want to go!” she thought.
“Well, why can’t I go? Tiger wouldn’t know!”
Now, Mocha was whizzing off into space, finding adventures and happiness. And maybe even a new friend…
Chapter 3 Anyway, let’s come back to the present.
Tiger stared up at the rocket in dismay. It didn’t occur to him that Mocha
really would go out of space! But maybe it wasn’t Mocha going. Maybe it
was some other cat! This thought lightened Tiger’s heart a little, but he still
felt rather uneasy, because how often do you see a rocket dashing into space?
Just to be safe, he decided to give
Mocha a call. Mocha looked at her phone in surprise and picked it up with her
paws.
“Mocha?” asked Tiger. “Where are you?”
“Umm…I-I’m having my dinner!” Mocha
stammered nervously, who was caught off guard.
“Are you sure you’re not up in space?”
Tiger asked suspiciously.
“Of course not!” replied Mocha, her
meow two octaves higher than usual. “Bye!”
“Mocha, wait!” Tiger meowed. But it was
too late. Mocha had hung up.
Tiger was now very sure that Mocha had
gone to space. “What should I do?” he thought. “I can’t take a rocket because I
don’t know how to drive one. I can’t fly either, and I can’t just build
something! I’ll just have to wait for Mocha at the launchpad.”
And so, he quickly ran there as fast as he could, to wait for Mocha the cat.
Chapter 4
Meanwhile, Mocha was still flying in
the rocket. Her heart thumped so loudly that she wondered if Tiger could hear
it from Earth! The sight of a bright red sphere distracted her thoughts. “Yay!”
she exclaimed, recognising the planet as Mars. “I’m here at last!”
She clambered out of the rocket and bounced on Mars. “Wow!” she said. “Mars is so red! So many volcanoes!”
As Mocha happily wandered around Mars,
gaping and sniffing, the ground suddenly began to shake. Mocha was thrown off
balance, but quickly recovered and ran around in circles, trying to find a safe
hiding spot.
After what seemed like an eternity,
the ground ceased its shaking. Mocha shakily heaved a sigh of relief.
A mighty CRASH!
thundered, almost causing Mocha to jump out of her skin with fright. The ground
gave way, leaving a gigantic hole in the middle. Mocha stared.
Something started to rise into
view.
They were the strangest creatures
Mocha had ever seen. Each of them sported 3 eyes and four antennas. Their
bodies were all kinds of shapes and sizes and colours.
Mocha let out a yowl. The creatures started and gawked at her in surprise, wondering what this weird screaming thing was. One of them poked Mocha, but quickly retracted its hand after a ferocious bite from her. Then, the creatures started gabbling among themselves in a language that Mocha had never heard of before.
“What are you?” Mocha asked in a
fearful voice.
“We are the beings who roam this beautiful
planet,” said one of the ‘beings’ in a slow and deep voice. Its English was
hesitant, like it was foreign to it.
“But this is just Mars!” Mocha
replied.
“This planet that you call Mars is the
king of all the other weird planets in the whole entire universe!” exclaimed
the being in a superior voice. “There is no other planet like this.”
“There is Earth!” cried Mocha
furiously. “Earth is the most beautiful planet! It has rivers, mountains, lakes
and oceans! I even come from there!”
“All right, all right, keep your hair
on!” said one of the beings. “We are the Mesomotatic tribe of Mars!”
“The Mesomotatic tribe?” asked Mocha,
puzzled. “What’s that?”
“The Mesomotatic tribe is a tribe
which is hundreds of thousands of years old!” explained the alien. “Would you
like to see our people?”
“Sure, but where are they? I don’t see
any homes!” said Mocha looking around.
The aliens laughed. “We live
underground!” they said. “Come on, let’s go!”
“W-wait!” stuttered Mocha. “I’m not
ready!”
But they didn’t listen to her. They
led her to the middle of the circle they were standing on and one of the aliens
pressed an invisible button.
Chapter 6
They shot down, going as fast as
lightning. “My tummy!” screamed Mocha. “It’s going up to my throat!”
“You’ll get used to it!” shouted back
an alien, who was called Marso.
Down, down they went, passing beautiful and flashing bright lights on the way. Mocha gazed at them in delight, quite forgetting her sick feeling for a while. It was pitch black in there, so the lights were nice to see.
“What are those?” she asked in wonder.
“Firelights,” replied Marso. “They
glow in the dark and are very shy.”
After a few minutes, the journey came
to an end. One of the aliens switched on the light. Mocha gasped. She looked
around her in awe. The roundest windows she had ever seen were attached to the
walls with hundreds of gigantic doors all around. She saw so many aliens that
it would take ages to mention all of their names.
“Welcome to our underground world!”
chorused all the aliens.
Chapter 7
One of the aliens held out a friendly
hand to Mocha. Mocha tapped it with her paw. The aliens seemed amazed. “What is
that?” they asked Marso, puzzled. “This thing is called a cat,” he
replied with a smile. Then he started speaking in a language that Mocha didn’t
understand, so she observed her surroundings instead.
For the next few hours, the aliens
showed the admiring cat around, doting on the cute cat quickly. Mocha enjoyed
the attention very much, but she suddenly she felt homesick as she remembered
Earth and Tiger. She wondered how she was to bring up the subject of leaving
without hurting the aliens.
Over lunch, Marso caught her sad look and guessed at once what she wanted. “You want to go back to Earth, don’t you?” he asked. Mocha nodded her little head. “Yes, I do. But I would feel very sad about leaving all of you.”
“Why don’t we fly you back to Earth?”
he suggested, bringing about a supportive cheer from the other aliens.
Mocha brightened immediately. “Would
you really?” she asked, touched, but then a worry crossed her mind. “What about
the rocket I came in?”
“We can tow it behind!” Marso replied.
“Alright, then it’s settled!” Mocha
said happily. “Let’s go now!”
Chapter 8
Mocha packed up all of her things and got into the aliens’ spaceship. It had blinking lights and looked very sleek and white all around. Can you guess what it was?
A flying saucer, of course!
Mocha stared at it in wonder. She had
never seen anything like it before, except in movies. “Get in!” said one of the
other aliens called Mayso. A light beamed onto the ground, gently pulling the
cat up into the ship. As soon as everyone was ready, they whizzed away at top
speed to Earth.
Mocha looked out of the window and
silently waved goodbye to Mars and all of the aliens. Her heart ached already,
and tears formed in her eyes.
After a few minutes, Mocha caught
sight of Earth. She leaped up. “There it is!” she meowed. Mayso, who was
steering, flew down to Earth. As they neared the rocket landing place, Mocha
spotted Tiger.
“Tiger!” she yelled. She waved a paw
at him. Tiger looked up in surprise, too surprised to wave back. Mocha gravitated
to the ground by the beam and ran to Tiger. She hugged him. “What on earth have
you been up to?” he asked, mouth agape. When he caught sight of the aliens, he
tried to speak, but no words came out.
Chapter 9
Tiger struggled to speak for a long
moment, but finally managed to stammer out, “W-Who are they?”
“We are the beings of Mars!” chorused
Mayso and Marso.
“O-Oh, I see,” said Tiger, looking
like he was about to faint.
“They are really nice!” said Mocha.
“We’ll have to go now, I’m afraid,”
said the aliens sadly. Mocha sighed. She was going to miss them very much, and
she knew it. The aliens got back into the saucer and waved.
“Goodbye!” they said. “We’ll come back soon!” Mocha and Tiger waved until they were out of sight.
After that, they went back home, chattering all the way.
